Description
A black and bronze patinated cast spelter sculpture, Buffalo Horse after Frederic Remington, American, 1861 to 1909. The sculpture depicts the fateful moment of impact of a large buffalo as it sends a Native American horse and rider into the air. The buffalo is shown with its front two hooves off the ground with the horse partially draped over one shoulder and the buffalo hunter desperately grabbing on to the horses mane. Inscribed on the base. Mounted on a marble stand. A gold tone plate, inscribed and titled, on the stand. Frederic Sackrider Remington is considered one of the most prolific and important Western artist of the 19th century.
