Second edition of this major source book for all aspects of South American Indian life and a handbook for the administration of the Spanish colonies, first published in 1648. In 1609 Solórzano had been sent to Peru by Philip III in order to document native southern american affairs. There he was given several important posts and after his return to Spain in 1627 he was rewarded with the position of Treasurer of the Council of the Indies.
