Juan de Borgoña II (c. 1500 - c. 1565)
Juan de Borgoña was the son of the painter Juan de Borgoña the Elder (active c. 1495-1536), who is considered one of the propagators of Quattrocento painting in Castile today. Juan the Younger worked in Zamora from 1530 and is attributed to the second generation of Toledian artists. He was educated probably from his father, as well as Francisco Comontes and Juan Correa de Vivar. After his father's death, he finished some of his commissions. Furthermore, several reredos in the region of Zamora and an altarpiece in San Martín of Pinilla de Toro have been attributed to him, amongst others. (cko)
