North America, United States, New York, ca. 1907 CE. BAL 11904; Sisson & Martens, p.35. A first edition of "Love of Life and Other Stories," written by Jack London (American, 1876 to 1916) and published by The MacMillan Company in September 1907. Covered in blue cloth with gilt lettering and decoration, the codex features 265 pages which detail the following short stories: "Love of Life," "A Day's Lodging," "The White Man's Way," "The Story of Keesh," "The Unexpected," "Brown Wolf," "The Sun-Dog Trail," and "Negore, the Coward." One of 7,973 copies printed. Size: 5.5" L x 1.2" W x 7.7" H (14 cm x 3 cm x 19.6 cm)
Born John Griffith Chaney, Jack London was an American novelist, journalist, and social activist who became one of the first American authors to gain international celebrity status. Considered an innovator of science fiction, London was a passionate advocate of unionization, workers' rights, and socialism. He is most famous for writing "The Call of the Wild" and "White Fang," both set in the Klondike Gold Rush which London joined at the age of 21 in 1897.

Condition
Very good condition without dust jacket. A few scuffs and marks to cover with bending and light fraying to peripheries of cover. Minor fraying to edges of a few pages. Stamp of old owner and abrasions to interior of front cover.
