Scoville Manufacturing Company Naval Steel Button Die
c. 1870, Scoville Manufacturing Company (Waterbury, Connecticut), Steel Button Die for French Shipping Company "Compagmie Generale Transatlantique," Choice Extremely Fine.
Rare Button Stamping Die has a sharply defined classic Fouled Anchor Design to be stamped into Uniform Buttons. Text surrounding the central Naval design reads, "Compagmie Generale Transatlantique". The button itself would likely be a cuffsize or a slightly larger button, as the design element is about .75" in size. This Steel Die measures about 1.25" tall x just under 1.25" in diameter at its round base. A rare item that should prove to be of interest to general Naval history and Button collectors alike.
