Offered in this lot are Two (2) pairs of Children's Spurs, circa 1950s-1960s. When the popularity of television exploded in the 1940s and 1950s, Western genre shows like Hopalong Cassidy and Gunsmoke quickly became audience favourites and soon every kid in the neighborhood wanted to be a cowboy. The first pair is of a classic young child's Texas-style equine spurs with seven point rowels, gold and silver coloured arrow decorated 1.25" shanks and button, both missing heel straps, 1.75" heel bands. Tthe second is a pair of 1950s Clip-Clop Cowboy Spurs from Crosby Research Foundation. The "spurs" have an integrated clicker that clicked every time the child took a step. Originally having two rubber rowels, one is missing and the remaining one exhibits deterioration. Measures 4.75"W x 6.75"L. The Crosby Research Foundation was started by the world famous Bing Crosby to encouraged inventors. During World War II the US Government worked with the foundation to develop products and ideas for the war effort. The foundation was also involved in the development of the atomic bomb in 1945. Combined weight 8oz.
