Rarely encountered restrike printed off of the original authentic Paul Revere Engraved Bookplate for Gardiner Chandler. It is printed off the original Copper-Plate on a vellum type paper, measuring about 3.5" x 4.5", in crisp condition. The original Copper-Plate Engraving was made about 1765 as noted in Figure 98 on page 214 of "BOSTON PRINTS AND PRINTMAKERS 1670 - 1775" published by The Colonial Society of Massachusetts in 1973. This is apparently a more recent Reprint off that plate, not dated, likely specially produced for the Bicentennial. The outer plate impression from Revere's original plate is still clearly seen embossed within the paper, and "P. Revere Sculp" is extremely sharp, seen at the bottom right.
