Description
East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A nice pair of hand-built pottery bowls with squat feet, tall walls, and deep basins. The first bowl features a whimsical foliage motif within the basin covered in pale celadon glaze, and the larger bowl bears faint remains of similar motifs. Both bowls are covered with thick marine encrustations indicative of being submerged in a shipwreck for centuries, with the larger of the 2 exhibiting a greater volume of sea life. Size of largest: 6.75" W x 2.4" H (17.1 cm x 6.1 cm)
