East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A group of 5 hand-built blue-on-white pottery vessels, 4 bowls and 1 plate. The plate features a gently scalloped edge with a tendril-form motif within the basin's center. Two of the bowls feature a three-lobed design within the basin, 1 with soft blue foliage surrounding the exterior surfaces, and the other with restored motifs in a similar fashion. Another bowl features a large flower within the basin, a row of worn Chinese characters along the interior rim, and dense floral motifs surrounding the exterior surfaces. The largest bowl exhibits a series of faint flowers on the exterior as well as an abstract lion surrounded by zigzagging bands inside the basin. Size of largest: 8" W x 3.3" H (20.3 cm x 8.4 cm)

Condition
One bowl has heavy restoration to pigment along exterior surfaces; remaining 4 pieces are intact and very good. Each vessel has minor abrasions, fading to pigment, marine encrustations, and small nicks, with a couple having some pressure fissures, and others having loss to glaze in scattered areas. Nice preservation to most motifs.
