Description
Greece, Hellenistic Period, ca. late 4th to 1st century BCE; Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A wonderful ensemble of ancient Roman and Greek artifacts that are perfect for someone just starting their collecting journey! First is a group of 4 bronze arrowheads, a bifacial blade tip, and a miniature votive axe head with both a vertical and horizontal head. Next are 2 columnar lead weights with perforations near the top, likely for use on industrial steelyard weights. A trio of lead sling bullets are of ovoid forms and of relatively heavy weights given their sizes, and a pair of Greek spindle jars have piriform bodies and thick rims. An ovoid Roman oil lamp has a nubbin handle behind a wide fill hole and narrow neck channel, and a Greek plate is covered in remains of gray-brown slip. Size of largest (Greek plate): 6.4" W x 1.3" H (16.3 cm x 3.3 cm)

Repair to foot of smaller spindle jar, with nicks to some arrowheads, sling bullets, lead weights, and oil lamp; remaining pieces are intact and very good. All pieces have abrasions and encrustations commensurate with age, with fading to pigment and softening to finer details where applicable, and roughness along some surfaces. Great preservation to overall forms!
