Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A pair of relief attachments: a lead head of a bull and a bronze head of a human. The ancient animal displays an extended snout with flared nostrils and bovine eyes, all crowned by a pair of curved horns and petaloid ears. Alternatively, the anthropomorphic visage features a short, thick coiffure above recessed eyes, a straight nose, bow lips, and round cheeks. Size of largest (bull): 1.8" W x 2.1" H (4.6 cm x 5.3 cm)
Provenance: ex-private UK collection, found in the 1980s

Condition
Both are fragments of larger pieces. Losses to bull's proper right horn, ear, and eye. Both have chipping to peripheries, as well as nicks, abrasions, and softening of details, all commensurate with age. Rich patina and nice mineral deposits and encrustations to both.
