Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A fine pair of hand-built pottery female figures of relatively flat forms - hence the 'gingerbread' moniker - standing atop delineated legs and petite feet, each holding their arms out at their sides. Both figures wear short skirts with vertically incised striations, bangles on each bicep, and a 'beaded' necklace that hangs down above perky breasts. Both heads bear coffee-bean-shaped eyes, protruding noses, and rounded chins, and one woman dons a twisted headwrap around her brow. Size of largest (figure w/ headwrap): 4.375" W x 8.1" H (11.1 cm x 20.6 cm)
