Item Details
Description
Ancient Central Asia, Bactrian, ca. 2500 to 2250 BCE. A wonderful pair of Bactrian jars, both skillfully hand drilled from chlorite of rich blue-gray, black, and charcoal hues. The first and largest presents an annular base and slanted walls that gently curve inwards to a corseted neck and a thick, flared rim. Alternatively, the more petite vessel displays a charmingly lopsided body of globular form with a curved shoulder and wide rim, all sitting upon a round yet stable base. Polished stone vessels are common grave goods from this time period, and they often were left in the tomb with a food offering. Size of larger: 4.1" Diameter x 3.6" H (10.4 cm x 9.1 cm)

Provenance: Whisnant Gallery, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, acquired prior to 2000

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
