Description
A beautiful Central Asian stone sculpture, ca. 8th - 12th Century, carved from gray hard stone and depicts a warrior with an attendant or captive at the front of the horse. The horse is nicely detailed, with reins and decorative elements masterfully executed. The lower half of the rider is seated on a blanket, with boot clad feet tucked into stirrups and a shield dangling on the left side. H: 12 ½ in (31.7 cm). An excellent sculpture with strong mineral deposits, with the upper half of the rider is lost to antiquity. Ex Virginia estate.
