Description
Central Asia, Bactria, ca. 2000 to 1700 BCE. A hand-carved stone stamp seal of circular form with an integral suspension loop emanating from the verso. Incised on the stamp face is a seated lion with his body in profile to the right as his head faces forward, displaying pointed ears and a radiating mane. Size: 2.3" Diameter (5.8 cm)
Provenance: private Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA collection, inherited via grandfather, who collected before 1980
