Description
19th C Naive Gorge Bridge Oil/Board Painting James Dale. Painted in a naive/primitive style, wonderful oil on board painting depicts a deep gorge, with a bridge over it, connecting 2 buildings which are perched on the edges of the cliffs. The building on the right is large, perhaps an inn or hotel. Board has a label on the back with a French Trademark, 1770/Pour Parvenir a Bonne Foi, and is signed James Dale. Another label dates the piece as 1812.
Dimensions are 18 in h x 11.75 in w x 1 in d. Condition is good with discoloration around the edges where a frame once was. Please call or email for a detailed condition report.
