Item Details

Description

Ninth plate tintype in full case of a man wearing a fine quality suit of clothes and clearly displaying a large Lincoln election campaign badge on his breast. Badge has an eagle at the top, a ribbon, and a framed ferrotype of Abe Lincoln with a beard. I don't recall ever selling an image showing a visible Lincoln election badge previously. We see the assassination mourning badges in period portraits all the time, but not the political examples. Very good condition as shown. Ca. 1864
