Description
Benjamin Harrison Signed Check to First Lady, His Daughter Mary. PSA NM-MT 8

A bank check measuring 75" x 2.875", Indianapolis, dated July 17, 1881. A check drawn on the Fletcher & Sharpe's Bank, with a payment of $10 made out to Mary S. Harrison. Slight tear through the bank name. Boldly signed Encapsulated and PSA/DNA graded NM-MT 8. The slab measures 5.5" x 11.5".

Mary Scott Harrison McKee was the only daughter of Benjamin Harrison, the 23rd president of the United States, and his wife Caroline Scott Harrison. After her mother died in 1892, McKee served as her father's first lady for the remainder of his term.

Mary Harrison was married to James Robert McKee. While traveling to Boston, McKee would become acquainted with Charles A. Coffin, and later joined his Thomson-Houston Electric Company. In 1893 McKee became part of the founding generation of General Electric when Coffin merged his company with Thomas Edison's. McKee would rise to become a vice-president of the company and worked for GE until 1913.
