You have to admire the engineering on these .32 caliber, six-shot revolvers. They use elements of the company's sidehammer and centerhammer percussion and lipfire revolvers along with a rather unique rack and pinion system to lock the loading gate on the left frame with a long lever. 32 Lipfire caliber, 4.5" octagonal barrel, varnished walnut grips. Has Allen & Wheelock two-line barrel marking on left side of barrel. Single action, spur trigger, 6-shot revolver with ratchet driven ejector rod and folding loading gate on left side of frame.
Flayderman estimates only a few hundred were made in the early 1860s.

This is a very good example showing smooth metal, mostly gray, but with some thin blue on the loading gate and some of the scrrew heads. Barrel address reads, ALLEN & WHEELOCK WORCESTER MS US/ ALLENS PATENTS SEPT. 7, NOV. 9, 1858. The only fault is a short crack on the bottom on one grip and a few small dings on the bottom of the buttstrap.
