Greece, Hellenistic Period, ca. 3rd to 1st century BCE. A lovely wheel-thrown pottery vessel of a slender form known as a "spindle flask" with a petite foot, an inverted piriform body, and a tapered cylindrical neck with an out-folded rim. An elegant example of a perfume-holding vessel from ancient Greece! Size: 2.6" in diameter x 10" H (6.6 cm x 25.4 cm)
Provenance: private C.Q. collection, Lexington, Virginia, USA, acquired July 25, 2014; ex-Artemis Gallery, Louisville, Colorado, USA; ex-East Coast, USA gallery, before 2010

Collection labels on base. Chips to rim and base. A few light nicks in areas. Otherwise, excellent with rich weathering film to one side.
