Description
A GROUP OF TWO PRINTS, "Self Portrait of Jasper Francis Cropsey," AND "Woodrow Wilson after John Singer Sargent," 1886 AND 1918, comprising a lithographic reproduction of H. Vellen's original engraving of the artist's self portrait, signed and dedicated in ink in margin, "Very Truly Yours, Jasper F. Cropsey, 1886," and a special dedication, 6 1/8" x 4 1/2", sheet: 12 1/8" x 7 3/4"; and an etching on rice paper portrait of Woodrow Wilson, circa 1918, signed by the engraver in margin L/R, "Timothy Cole," and the artist signs L/L, "John S. Sargent," image: 9 7/8" x 6 7/8". Note: Jasper Francis Cropsey (American 1823-1900) a little known Hudson River School artist, born in New York. Provenance: Estate of David E. Brauer, Houston, Texas.
Condition
Overall good condition. Unframed. Matted. The Cole piece has some pest wear and losses, mild cockling, but overall in good condition.
