Chinese Ming Dynasty Yellow Glazed Porcelain Plate. The plate has a broad wide central interior, rounded mouth lip, thick and large, raised on correspondence footed ring base slight concave. Warm and uniform yellow glaze applied to the surface, only the outer bottom is white glazed. Sgrafitto with imperial five claws dragon flying careening through cumulus clouds. Yellow is an imperial color in Chinese Dynasty color symbolism, representing power, royalty, prosperity and the earth in traditional Chinese culture.The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark greyish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
