Description
Original Louis Icart (1888-1950) Color Etching and Aqua Tint, signed in Pencil by the artist. "Frou-Frou" 1948 etching and aquatint, printed with colors and hand color, signed Louis Icart, with the Windmill stamp. In the final decade of his life, the work of Louis Icart moved more into an impressionist style. By playing with colors and light his style expanded into new areas. Due to the shortage of copper for plates during World War II, he spent much of his artistic energy on oil paintings. The majority of his etchings graced limited edition books and collections. He continued to produce both oils and etchings until his death in 1950. It is difficult to find works from this period (1940 to 1950) With low production and small edition sizes they rarely come to market. The value of these works continues to increase. Professionally framed and matted, measures 27"x31"x1". Weight 11 pds. PROVENANCE: A Private Charleston SC Estate
