Description
A fine New Enlgand Glass Company brasstop bellbottom lantern made for the Boston & Albany Railroad. It is an 1868 model frame with a tin collar that comes 2/3 of the way up the glass fount. The top has an uncommon, ornate brass dome. It has B&A RR stamped on the shoulder of the lid. It has the unique single wire bent into a lid latch. That's all original with no repairs. The base has a skirted base. The pinch pot has the standard sprung tabs that you pinch in the center to release the base. The vents are the dagger shape and the intakes are the 5 point rounded stars. Excellent metal with the most minor of surface rust. The globe is standard NEG with a 2 3/4" diameter (fat) top. It has flanges on the top and bottom. It has B&ARR cast in serif lettering in a rectangular panel. This is one of the 2 best B&A New England Glass lanterns that I have ever seen.
