Description
**Originally Listed At $300**

Ancient Greece, Classical to early Hellenistic period, ca. 5th to late 4th century BCE. A gathering of three hand-built pottery whistles depicting highly stylized, human-headed birds. The first bird bears a distinctly male head with a broad nose and a puffy beard. The second whistle has a female head with a black-painted coiffure and ovoid eyes staring to her left. The tallest bird has a female head with a bulbous coiffure that stares dramatically over her right shoulder. The female whistles produce sound when played, and the male whistle does not create sound. A charming ensemble! Size of largest (female w/ bulbous coiffure): 1.5" W x 3.2" H (3.8 cm x 8.1 cm)
