Description
Greece, early Hellenistic Period, ca. 3rd century BCE. A lovely, hollow-molded pottery figure depicting an elegant woman standing atop an integral rectangular plinth. She stands with her left leg extended and her right leg bent, with a large himation flowing across her slender body. She wears an elaborate beaded necklace above her bosom and a tight, bead-adorned choker around her neck. Her face is defined by almond eyes, a slender nose, thin lips, and nicely-contoured cheeks, all framed with centrally-parted bangs beneath a large veil. A beautiful example of fine Hellenistic artistry! Size: 2.625" W x 8.5" H (6.7 cm x 21.6 cm).
