**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 BCE to 300 CE. An attractive ensemble of 5 blackware vessels from ancient Chupicuaro culture, all boasting a lustrous burnish. The first vessel presents as a plate with a discoid body, a round base, and a circular rim over a shallow basin. Standing on three tapered legs, the second is a tripod vessel with a bowl-like body and an annular rim. The final three ancient dishes are jars, each exhibiting a round base, a wide hip, a slanted shoulder, a narrow neck, and a flared rim. Size of largest: 2" W x 1.375" H (5.1 cm x 3.5 cm)
Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s
