Erasmus CulpepperJr. died in 1855, and probate action was taken on his estate July 1, 1856.
This document is dated 4 months prior to official probate, March 10, 1856, and deeds 5 slaves - Chaney, Daniel, Mose, Jerry, and Henry to Mrs. Harriette Pate, E. CulpepperJr's daughter.
Erasmus CulpepperJr. migrated from Nash County, NC and was the first Culpepper to settle in Lower Peachtree, Wilcox County, Alabama.
"Rec’d of Erasmus Culpepper Jr. (- -) (- -) of Erasmus Culpepper (- -) deed the following named negroes allotted and set off to Mrs. Harriett Pate wife of J. F. Pate, on the division of the negroes belonging to said Estate to wit , Chaney, Daniel, Mose, Jerry and Henry valued at Four Thousand five Hundred Dollars. J.F. Pate March 10th 1856
