1853 "Certain negro woman" Slave Bill of Sale for $1,200
December 2, 1853-Dated, Manuscript Document, Slave Bill of Sale, being "Certain negro woman" Slave Bill of Sale for $1,200, (Bradley County, Arkansas, Choice Very Fine.
This original Manuscript Bill of Sale measures about 7.75" x 4.75", 1 page. Being a Bill of Sale for a "certain negro woman". This clean easily read Document reads, in full: "Recd of James M Brown Twelve Hundred Dollars in full payment for a Certain negro woman of copper complexion named Leurah aged between twenty four and five years. I warrent said negro woman to be a slave for life Sound of boddy (sic) and mind, and my title to her unencumbered all of which I will defend this 2nd day of Dec 1853. Wm Childs / attest N.T. Avant".
