Description
Pair of coin silver sugar tongs, Samuel Alexander, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1795-1800, having bright-cut bow, tapered and reverse flat arms with full bright-cutting on both sides of arms, ending in oval-end nips. The bow is engraved with a blank oval cartouche, and the arms with four shaped shields. Maker's mark ''S.ALEXANDER'' in rectangular cartouche, angled on inside of one side of the bow. 6''l. Total approximate weight 1.3 troy oz. Provenance: North Hill, Suffern, NY, 1994.
