Description
One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1865, ovoid pitcher with footed base and tooled collar, decorated with a two-stemmed tulip plant flanking a smaller hanging tulip. Collar decorated on each side with a drooping flower emanating from a leafy stem, along with two stylized flower blossoms flanking the spout. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Excellent color and strong decoration. Provenance: From a recently-surfaced collection of Northeastern U.S. stoneware. A professionally-restored 6" line on side of pitcher, continuing onto underside.
