Our Summer 2018 sale covers a broad range of potting traditions and styles, with outstanding objects representing the East Coast from Massachusetts to Georgia, westward to Ohio and Illinois. Among the 450+ lots in this auction are a number of works considered "iconic" in American ceramics and folk art collecting circles. Lot 23, a five-gallon stoneware starface churn stamped "T. HARRINGTON / LYONS", NY. Lot 11, a four-gallon double pheasant churn, stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT." Lot 10, an extremely rare "E. & L.P. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT" stoneware potter's stamp. Lot 19, an elaborate stoneware deer churn stamped "FORT EDWARD POTTERY CO. / FT. EDWARD, N.Y."
