Dalai Lama Typed Letter Signed with First Day Issue Moon Landing Stamp Canceled July 20, 1969; Triumph of Man Conquering the Moon. A unique Apollo 11 artifact. The (14th) Dalai Lama composed a one page observation on the extraordinary achievement of Man landing on the moon. Typed on an 8½ x 11" light vellum sheet, the Nobel Peace Prize winning spiritual leader addresses the "phenomenal feat of far-reaching consequences for the world of science". He then addresses Buddhist text explanations of galaxies within galaxies and that the hope man will ultimately achieve through science and spirit mental peace and satisfaction when he reaches the moon." This letter was canceled in person at a US Post Office for the First Day Issue "First Man on the Moon" stamp Jul. 20, 1969. Signature certified with Letter of Authenticity by James Spence & Associates. Remarkable piece in mint condition.
