This incredible archive traces the life of thoroughbred racehorse trainer, Ted Saladin. A trainer since the 1950's, Saladin trained many winners, Rising Market and Rose O'Neill Through the 316 photos win pictures contained in four albums, you'll see photo finishes of many of the horses put under Saladin's tutelage, including the aforementioned Rose O'Neill, winner of the "Distaff $20,000 Added" in 1962, Trackmaster, the winner of the "Yerba Buena Handicap" at Tanforan in 1955, Cupid in the San Carlos Handicap at Santa Anita and more. His most famous horse, from a pedigree standpoint, had to be "Rising Market" who could trace his direct pedigree to War Admiral and Man O' War. Saladin was at several tracks, including Bay Meadows, Del Mar, Hollywood Park, Aquaduct etc. His jockeys included Willie Shoemaker, Lafitt Pincay. Saladin was known for his special bond and handling techniques, according to the book "American Racehorses of 1956." Along with the albums, there are four framed photos measuring 15"x 18", 17"x 21", 16"x 20" and 12"x 15".
