Jackie Robinson Signature PSA Encapsulated
Hall of Fame Baseball Player Jackie Robinson (1919-1972) Signature, “Best wishes / Jackie Robinson”, on the verso of a postcard postmarked Brooklyn, New York, February 8, 1952. Measures 5.5" x 3.25". Light wear and toning, remnants of adhesive along top edge, else very good condition. Authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA.
The first Black baseball player to play in the American major leagues during the 20th century, Jackie Robinson broke the decades-old “color line” of Major League Baseball (MLB) when he appeared on the field for the National League Brooklyn Dodgers. He played as an infielder and outfielder for the Dodgers from 1947 through 1956. In 1997, MLB retired Robinson’s uniform number 42 across all major league teams; he was the first professional athlete in any sport to be so honored. MLB also adopted a new annual tradition, "Jackie Robinson Day", for the first time on April 15, 2004, on which every player on every team wears number 42.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
