Description
Japan, Edo Period, ca. late 18th century. A very fine example depicting a standing Amida Buddha on an elaborate tiered lotus base and backed by a double Mandorla. The case constructed with double doors, the interior finely gilded and painted. The decoration on the outside of the front doors is unusual given the addition of gilt lacquer work, versus the typical, exclusively copper mounts seen on most other examples.
MEASUREMENTS
