Daniel Kidder’s book “The Waldos” is a collection of anecdotes of the American Revolution. The book published in 1849 is one of Kidder’s rare works for the Methodist Sunday school series who blamed the British for the American Revolution and devoted time discussing the difficulties on the Waldo family of the boys leaving their mother and begins with an emotive account of the conversion of the patriarch of the family to Methodism. The book along with others played a role in sparking an insurrection against the British authorities in Upper Canada.
