Description
1846 1st ed Memoirs Arial Bragg American Revolution War Military Poems RARE

Arial Bragg was an American author and Colonel in the United States Army remembered by his father, a shoemaker, who fought and died of smallpox in the American Revolutionary War. After his father’s death, Arial was indentured to his uncle, Alexander Bragg. These ‘Memoirs’ contain a copy of the indenture issued on January 24, 1781.

Arial settled in Milford, Massachusetts, where he is credited as establishing one of the first wholesale shoe and boot manufacturing firms. Arial married three times, served 29 years with the military (at his own expense,) and was elected Representative to the General Court in 1839 and to the Senate in 1842.

The first half of this 1846 first edition is Bragg's memoirs, while the second half is a collection of poems he authored.
