Description: This is a beautiful Japanese woodblock print, or ukiyo-e. It is likely an actor print, or a print showing an actor portraying a character in a play. Actor prints were incredibly popular and widespread throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries! This actor is in ornate, vibrant clothes. It is signed by the artist with a red toshidama seal.
Circa: 1830s
Dimensions: 14.25X9 inches
Condition: Some wear on inks, and on paper near edges. One small hole near bottom left corner. In a protective plastic folder.
Provenance: From the estate of a local retiree, whose grandfather collected Ukiyo-e prints throughout the 1930s.
