Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A pretty and nearly translucent glass cup with a light green hue resting on a ring base with walls that swell gently up then outward to a slightly flared rim. The surface is covered with nice areas of rainbow iridescence that have formed over the ages. Glass was a prized material in the ancient world, enthralling peoples because it was simultaneously transparent and solid.
