Description
A Chinese famille rose mallet vase dating from the Republic period. There is a 6-character mark on the bottom of the vase. The body features two roundels of courtly ladies dancing and playing music. The sides feature two gold-toned guardian lion heads holding engaged rings. The yellow ground features lotus tracery. It is accompanied by a wooden stand and an old box.
Dimensions are: 7 inches tall X 4 1/2 inches wide, 17.8 cm tall X 11.4 cm wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: No noted damage.
Provenance: From Mr. Kung in Vancouver, Canada, inherited from his father, who acquired this item in Hong Kong and had it shipped to Canada before the 1970s. Lots 194-198 from our auction on Sept 6th, 2019, were from the same estate.
