Description
A large Chinese bronze lidded hu vase dating from the Han dynasty with a wood stand. The vase has a pair of mythical beast handles holding engaged rings. Low relief bands of geometric designs decorate the body and lid. The lid has four beast-shaped handles. The bottom of the vase has an archaic inscription.
Dimensions are: 23 1/2 inches tall X 17 inches wide, 59.7 cm X 43.2 cm. Weight: 19800 grams. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There is age appropriate wear as well as repairs present.
Provenance: From the estate of Lim Kee Chin, who was Singapore's trade commissioner to Hong Kong in the 1960s. Mr. Lim acquired these items while he was in Hong Kong.
