Description
WWII Home Front. Original 1940s paper folder containing a collection of original WWII-era mimeograph printed bulletins by the War Council Consumer Division, Rochester, Monroe County, NY. [undated, c.1942-1944]. The bulletins contain information on food preservation, war-time recipes and more. Rationing in World War II meant that recipes had to make the most of the food that was more easily available.

Seventeen one and two-page bulletins by Mrs. Elston E. Holton, Executive Secretary, War Council:

Rhubarb: canning, freezing, pasteurization, jams and conserves recipes; recipes for fresh rhubarb
Potatoes recipes and instructions, including "Left-Over Potatoes"
Sandwiches
Cookie recipes: 'for School', "Cookies That Go to War"; "Cookies that Stay at Home for Parties."
