BRITISH MAP OF ENGLAND AND WALES NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER, silk on linen, oval vignette featuring the map of England and Wales with counties outlined and named, surrounding areas named including Scotland, Ireland, France, the English Cannel, and St. George's Channel, signed and dated at the bottom "EIP Plummer Aged 12 / 1840", floral border frames the map with flower motifs in each outer corner. Housed under glass in a period wood frame. Date 1840. 19" x 20 7/8" sight, 21" x 22 3/4" OA.
Excellent visual condition with light toning to linen, some fugitive color to thread, holes along edges of linen from being stretched in making, frame with some wear and scratches. Not examined out of frame.
Provenance: From the Douglas Hare collection, Palmyra, NY.
