**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chimu/Inca culture, ca. 1100 to 1400 CE. A fine textile strap comprised of tightly-woven camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in hues of maroon, gold, turquoise, emerald, beige, and espresso. The strap, presented as three separate fragments, depicts a repeating series of abstract geometric motifs enclosed within dark-brown border stripes and further enclosed within thick red borders. Mounted to a foam board and sealed with plastic wrap. Size (largest textile strip): 14" W x 1.75" H (35.6 cm x 4.4 cm); size (board mount): 16" W x 7" H (40.6 cm x 17.8 cm).
Provenance: private Los Angeles County, California, USA collection, acquired by descent from the owner's father, collection amassed between 1950-1990
