Description
**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Guanacaste/Nicoya region, ca. 200 to 600 CE. A petite mace head of a circular form, hand-carved from a pale-grey stone, with a central hafting hole drilled through the center. The exterior is lined with two horizontal bands of raised pyramidal points that increase the destructive capabilities of the weapon. Size: 1.875" W x 1" H (4.8 cm x 2.5 cm).

Provenance: Estate of R. Pearson, Denver, Colorado, USA; Mr. Pearson collected from the third quarter of the 20th century until he passed away.

Condition
Repaired from two large pieces with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Small chips to rims and raised points, and light encrustations within some recessed areas. Nice earthen deposits throughout. Old mounting adhesive residue on base.
