Description
**First Time At Auction**
Magna Graecia, South Italic colonies, Apulia, ca. 340 to 325 BCE. A wheel-thrown ceramic lekythos with a tiered foot, a piriform body, a rounded shoulder which tapers to a narrow tubular neck, and a thick collared rim. A fine-line netted pattern adorns the body. This netted pattern is bordered on the top with solid concentric black bands and on the bottom with a repeating wave-form motif. A register of enclosed tongues encircles the bottom of the neck, with vertical bars adorning the upper neck, and thick concentric rings embellishing the inside of the rim. Size: 3.75" W x 7.2" H (9.5 cm x 18.3 cm).

Condition
Vessel repaired from multiple large pieces with some small losses and light adhesive residue along break lines. Age-commensurate surface wear and abrasions, losses to areas of foot, body, shoulder, and rim, with fading to some areas of pigmentation. Light earthen deposits throughout.
