DUBUFFET, JEAN. Two Typed Letters Signed, each to Sewell Sillman and Norman Ives of the publishing house Ives-Sillman Inc., in French, concerning a proposal to publish a volume of reproductions of Dubuffet's gouache paintings from various periods on various subjects. The second additionally inscribed with holograph return address, at lower left. Each ½ page, 4to, the first on "Secrétariat de Jean Dubuffet" stationery; staple holes at upper left, folds. The second with the original envelope, addressed in holograph. Paris, 13 July; 3 August 1974
13 July: ". . . I believe it was decided, on the advice of Pace Gallery, to make these reproductions a little smaller than the originals in order to prevent any confusion or abuse.
"I liked this project and I would like it to happen. . . .
3 August: ". . . I am pleased with your intention to continue the project . . . .
"I would be happy to know . . . how many topics you plan to reproduce in the album. I could thus start now to choose the subjects. . . ."
