Two Mexican Retablos and a Continental Painting
20th century, including "I give thanks to the Virgin of San Juan of the Lake for saving me from dying when my horse was spook by a snake, threw me and dragged me until it stop", 1904, 7" x 11", and "Thanks for curing a young boy", 1968, 8-3/4" x 11", both unframed oils on metal, inscribed, signed and dated in Spanish in the lower margins; together with Continental School (19th Century), "Madonna and Child", oil on canvas, unsigned, 10" x 7", framed 12-1/2" x 9-1/2".
Provenance: Collection of Mark M. Johnson, Montgomery, Alabama.

**Retablo, "I give thanks to the Virgin of San Juan...": Surface dirt; craquelure pattern visible throughout; small hole in metal upper center (sky); bent upper right and left corners with paint loss. Unframed.
Retablo, "Thanks for curing a young boy": Surface dirt; large hole for hanging in the upper center (sky); diagonal surface mark with inpainting lower center (pink ground between standing figure in cream clothes and kneeling figure). Unframed.
Continental School, "Madonna and Child": Surface dirt and toning of the varnish layer; previously cleaned, relined and trimmed tacking edges; craquelure pattern visible; areas of discoloration appear to be inpainting and losses; loss along lower left edge and mid-right (child's hand). Gilt frame with surface marks, nicks and abrasions; separations in corners.
