Lot essay: One of the longest standing members of the Centre dêArt, Port-au-Prince, as a young artist Cedor joined in 1947 becoming part of the administrative committee two years later and serving until 1975. Cedor re-imagined impressionism as he worked to represent variations of light through color. His paintings were widely exhibited at galleries and biennales throughout Europe and the Americas.
